Visiting students of Indiana University, others installed 100 solar streetlights in Njawara community

The Njawara Development Society and Njawara Development Committee in collaboration with the visiting students of the Indiana University, United States of America on Saturday, 15thJuly 2023 jointly installed 100 solar streetlights in NjawaraCommunity in Lower Badibou, North Bank Region.

People of the community hailed the cordial relationship between Indiana University, Village Development Society, and NjawaraDevelopment Committee in promoting this joint project that is meant to improve the lives and livelihood of people of the community. 

Badara Jobe, representing the alkalo of Njawara expressed delight over the installation of the 100 solar streetlights in the community, saying it demonstrated a high level of commitment to advancing the development of the community. 

Jon Eldon, an Instructor from Indiana University described the partnership as crucial in promoting shared learning with visiting students and the community of Njawara. 

He stated that the university work with the community to conduct development needs assessment, citing the rehabilitation of the waiting shed at Community Health Post.

Jamie Davenport. an MSC student of Public Affairs and Environmental Sciences at Indiana University said the lighting project will enhance the safety and security of women and children.  

Siga Jobe, vice chairperson of Njawara Village Development Committee assured of their support and calls for more partnerships in advancing women’s empowerment.
