Robbery Cases Adjourned

Justice Isatou Janneh of the Kanifing high court on Tuesday granted state two adjournments in an alleged robbery involving  Matarr Nyang and Fallou Njie who are  being tried on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and robbery   due to the absence of their defence lawyer.

According to the bill of indictment filed by state prosecutors, the accused persons on or about the 26th April last year at city pub junction in Dippa Kunda unlawfully conspired to rob Momodou Benteng Jallow and Ebrima Faye.

Investigators further revealed that the accused persons allegedly used a knife to stab and rob Momodou Benteng Jallow of the sum of two thousand Dalasi and a mobile phone marked IPhone 6 valued at seven thousand dalasi, and also used a knife to threaten and rob Ebrima Faye of the sum of six hundred dalasi and a mobile phone thereby they committed an offence.

The state was represented by Mama Singhateh and the matter was adjourned to February 23 for continuation of hearing.

Meanwhile, in a similar but substantive case the court has also adjourned the case of Abdoulie Badjie , Muhammed  Faal ,and Alagie Jaw who are standing trial on charges of conspiracy, attempted robbery and going armed in public due to the absence of their counsel.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons, Alhagie Badjie, Muhammed Faal and Alhagie Jaw on or about the 25th of March, 2022, conspired among themselves with intent to commit felony, attempted robbery, assaulted and attacked one Pa Basenty Mendy with cutlass, knives and attempted to rob him off his mobile phone.

Justice Isatou Janneh said due to the absence of the defense the matter was adjourned to 22nd of February 2023 for defense witness  to testify.
