Alleged child killer detains in Mile II prison

Regional Principal Magistrate Anna O Mendy of the Essau Magistrate Court in North Bank Region has recently ordered the detaining of Ousman Gaye who was accused of killing his 7-year-old daughter at the Mile II Central Prison pending his appearance at the High Court.

Ousman Gaye, a resident of Kerr Sait Cham Village at Lower Nuimi District was alleged of killing his 7-year-old daughter (name withheld) by beating her to death. But the alleged accused denied beating his daughter to death when the charge sheet was read and interpreted to him in the language he understood.

Inspector Kebba Ceesay, police prosecutor narrated that the incident happened a day before the eve of the New year at Jokadou District in North Bank Region, where the accused, Ousman Gaye unlawfully beat his 7-year-old daughter to death.

However, the prosecutor applied for the matter to be transferred to the High Court saying “it attracts a death and life sentence, and I plead for the accused, Ousman Gaye to be detained,” he (the alleged accused) waits for his appearance at the High Court.
