National Security Adviser Reveals Alleged Coup Plotters Plans

National Security Adviser Abubakarr Suleiman Jeng disclosed that the alleged coup plotters have planned to take over State House, Denton Bridge, Radio Gambia, and the National Electricity Company, NAWEC on the day of the alleged coup plot.

In a recent statement released by the authorities since the alleged foiled coup, the newly appointed Security Adviser said the Joint Investigation Panel formed by the government has unraveled the composition of the alleged coup plotters and their mode of operation to forcefully remove the democratically elected government from power.

He also explained how the alleged coup plotters were communicating among themselves and their clandestine meetings at various diverse places in the country and how they secured sponsors both at home and abroad by civilians.

National Security Adviser Jeng also stated that the operational plan of the plotters has also been recovered by the investigators where the Gambia National Navy Headquarters was identified by the plotters to launch their operation where Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera, the mastermind of the coup works.

He continued: “In addition to Statehouse, the plan shows other key locations to be taken over and occupied which include the Denton Bridge, Bund Road-Banjul Highway Intersection, Arch 22, and installations such as the NAWEC Power Station at Kotu, Gambia Radios, Abuko Earth Station, the Airport and seal off the ECOMIG Troops. The coup plotters also intend to use media propaganda to promote their takeover, arrest Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials as hostages to prevent any foreign intervention,” NSC disclosed at the press briefing.”

He finally revealed the plans being put in place by the alleged coup plotters to retire all senior military officers and also restructure the Gambia Armed Forces.

The investigation panel set up by the government comprised the Office of the National Security(ONS), Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Gambia Police Force (GPF), and the State Intelligent Services(SIS).
