Energy minister calls for improve in service delivery

Abdoulie Jobe, Minister of Petroleum and Energy has called for improvement in service delivery as he paid a visit to the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) headquarters in Kanifing.

Mr Jobe was taken on a conducted tour of the head office to see for himself, how the work environment looks like, with a view to improving the general working environment of the staff and tidiness of the premises and later to have a private discussion with the Managing Director about his observation.

Speaking to staff at various departments during the tour, said he wants ‘all hands-on deck’, as electricity and water supply are daily basic life necessities.

He urged both the staff and management to work amicably together to achieve the desired result of making sure every Gambian has access to reliable, efficient, and affordable

“All sectors of development need reliable electricity in order to develop, so we need to work as a team and support the efforts of Nani and his team who God has destined to be our leaders today, if we do our jobs as expected we stand to be the first to benefit from it before anyone else does,”he stated.

He assured the Managing Director of his office’s support and that he would keep coming regularly to see for himself how things are going.

Managing Director, Mr Nani Juwara said the Honourable minister is no stranger to NAWEC an Institution which he once headed as managing Director.

He told the entourage that his management is currently engaged in several reforms which include renovations works, training of staff upgrading of service delivery in a bid to ensure the conducive environment for effective service delivery in a “timely and transparent manner”, he said.

He said plans are ongoing to auction dozens of old, irreparable vehicles. He assured the minister that all departments will be renovated as all are equal and have vital roles. He added that NAWEC has always counted on the Ministry over the years which has helped NAWEC to achieve a lot. NAWEC will continue to knock on your doors to achieve our common goal.
