Water shortage hits Chongen village

A village in Lower Baddibu District, Chongen, has been hit by shortage of water, as villagers are forced to wake up at before dawn, 4am precisely to queue for water.

Residents of this village are sending and urgent appeal to Adama Barrow-led government for support.

Speaking to this medium, the village head Mr Jallow said: “we are facing numerous challenges but the most serious one is water shortage because there are two local pumps and a borehole which supplying us water from two other surrounding villages. But the six taps connected to it that is serving us water in the village will only have water from 4am to 10am this is seriously disturbing us.”

“I am the village Alkalo and every problem in the village is direct to and I cannot solve this problem alone. Therefore it will be important if we have someone to dig borehole to help us in my village. In the village we are still having people affected the previous windstorm and cannot still remedy their houses,” he disclosed has he’s begging for assistant for the villagers.

So “we need support from any individual or organization willing to help us with borehole among other assistance,” he reiterated.

He disclosed that the National Assembly member for Lower Badibou visited the village on Monday 31st January 2022, and they discussed several issue ranging from the two (2) women who had an accident in the village during the political campaign, “the NAM told me he came to see those people and I hailed him for that because it has been awhile without them been visited by the government and other politicians,” he said.

According to him, he informed the NAM during their discourse that they are facing serious water shortage in the village, “I have begged Alagie (the NAM) and his delegation to come in to the village and go around to see the taps, they cannot even get a cup of water from it.”
