Editors’ Picks A final note on 2021

Hi The Voice readers,
Today marks the end of 2021 and our second year of living with covid-19.
We began the year anticipating the vaccine roll out, the start of the Barrow  administration, and a post-covid economic recovery.
We’re ending it in the midst of an incredibly contagious variant, the everything shortage, and an economy plagued by inflation. But we remain hopeful. Remote work has established itself, climate action took center stage with the IPCC report and COP26, and the global economy continues to be full of fascinating and transformative.
2022 will undoubtedly be as complicated and hard to predict as 2021. And whatever happens, The Voice will be here to help you make sense of it, imagine what might be coming next, and figure out what you can do to improve things. We have big plans already, including new columns.
Our hope for the new year is that together we’ll make some real progress toward a more inclusive, more sustainable natioal economy, one that rewards invention, encourages competition, solves problems, respects workers, and keeps power in check.
We believe that starts with good business journalism—reporting that seeks better ways of doing business and holds companies and policymakers accountable for their decisions.

To keep doing this work—and to do more of it—we need your support. I hope you’ll be inspired to join us by subscripting and advertising with us.

Thanks for reading, and here’s to a productive 2022,
