Honorable Madi Ceesay, the National Assembly member for Serrekunda West, has promised to retain his seat as Member of Parliament at the National Assembly under the ticket of United Democratic Party (UDP) in upcoming parliamentarian election scheduled for 2022.

Speaking to The Voice exclusively, he said people of his constituency still have high hope on his competency in delivering up to expectation for the country and constituency in the National Assembly.

“I will maintain my position as an MP in Serekunda West because I know my constituency, at first, even though I did not have any budget to construct any road for the constituency. But as lawmaker knowing your responsibilities your priorities are three different things – oversight, presentation and lawmaking,” he said.

“This election is centered on inducement, bribery and stealing this are some of the merits that the petition is anchored on and this on record CWC has even mention that voter buying was rampant and use of government vehicles. I will not go far because the matter is at the Supreme Court,”

Furthermore, Honorable Ceesay continued, “during the Farafenni campaign the president was laughing about the throwing of teargas to the people and he said on the 4th he will do the worst and it happened. Where is the democracy?”

“I believe that facing the law is the only issue that can do justice to this issue that is why the matter is to be handled by the court and the United Democratic Party believes in rule of law. Anyone who disobeys the law shall face the consequences,” he said.

He however added that the outcome of the elections was not a surprise to him because what has been done and what was announced are totally different “that is why United Democratic Party sued them to court. NPP and UDP are different because our structures are different.”
