Essa Mbye Faal, an independent presidential candidate has launched a fresh attack on Barrow-led government for the latest fuel shortage and called on the electorates to vote him out in December for the country’s benefit.

Speaking to a rally in Numuyel, the former lead counsel of TRRC described the living standards of Gambians under Barrow’s administration as ‘sad and worrying.’

“Every sector in this country is inundated with problems and now there is a fuel shortage in the country. Why should there be a fuel shortage in the country under a serious government. Do you think if this government is serious, they will sit and wait until fuel scarcity hits the country? This situation is very sad and pathetic,” he said.

“I was told the people of Numuyel are funding their health clinic and the bridge. So, I asked where is the government you’ve voted in office five years ago are they coming to visit you? Do they really care about your welfare and it looks like government forgets about your welfare? If they come to you now, they are coming for your votes which you should not allow to happen anymore. So, it means this government has not done anything in this country, and if you bring in a government, it means you signed a contract with that government who are expected to bring back development to you the electorates,” he added.

“There was someone who stood and said he has 20 million and do you believe in him because that’s what he said, he said he has 20 million but do you today know how much he has in his account D270 million dalasis! That’s what I heard them say. Even if it was D200 million, he has double that amount ten times. And what of you people of Numuyel you are still left in poverty and is only one person who is progressing in this country. Why would you people of Numuyel build hospital for yourself and there is a government in this country,” he added.
