14 GYP Members to attend leadership summit in Nepal

Fourteen members of the Global Youth Parliament (GYP) Gambia chapter are currently warming up to attend the global youth leadership summit scheduled for 18th to 21st November in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The global youth leadership summit is aimed to gather young leaders’ innovators, peacemakers, youth activists, and civil society pioneers from around the world in a single forum to share their contributions experiences, and knowledge on pertinent global issues.

This year’s summit is anchored on the theme, climate change, diplomacy, peace, entrepreneurship, education and youth participation into politics.

The objective of the summit is to inspire individuals from around the world and recognize their contribution that has added value to creative endeavors in serving humanity, to create a common platform to empower the youth network within the world and motivate young people to be good leaders in their respective countries.

The Secretary General of Global Youth Gambia chapter, Pa Modou Cham said it is paramount as young people of the country to take charge of their developmental issues at the global level.

“Such trip to Nepal will boost our understanding, commitment, strength and way forward in achieving our common goal as an organization. We applaud every delegate for the opportunity and encourage you to uphold to the principle of ‘Global Change Makers’ and as well, be law abiding, trustworthy and promote probity at all time” he said

The summit would also avail platform for young leaders from the world to share and learn about best practices through mutual learning on ideas and initiatives of advocacy tools to achieve sustainable development goals from the youth perspectives.

Two GYP members from the Gambia are also expected to receive awards based on their understanding contributions to GYP Gambia.
