Social Security Housing Financial Corporation has recently distributed 300 packs worth over D200,0000 to patients at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) and Kanifing General Hospital (KGH) as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Speaking at the handing over of the foodstuff at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul, Fabuka Njaay, Director of Corporate Affairs, assured his institution continuous support to hospitals in the country, citing the relation of his institution and EFSTH was dated back in the 90s.

“Basically, we wish to continue to reinforce and build partnership between the Social Security Housing Cooperation and the health sector,” he said.

He thanked the hospital management and staff for the warm welcome in the years of cordial cooperation with his office.

Jarriatou Drammeh, deputy chief matron at EFSTH, welcomed the support on behalf of his hospital management and staff.

“We thank you for coming to our aid because you think this thing is small but it’s not small to us some people are here but without nothing to eat. That’s why when you look outside you will see women placing their bowls just to wait for food,” she said.

She recognised the continuing support of Social Security Housing Cooperation to the country’s major referral hospital “the Social Security Ward is here which you have been sponsoring for a long time and we hope to see you more often at the ward,” she stated.

She described the support as a very good gesture for the entire hospital and called for similar support from the public as the government alone cannot do it.

Meanwhile, in a similar ceremony at the Kanifing General Hospital, Mr Njaay reassured his institution continuous support to hospitals, assuring them as he said “thank you for welcoming us and this will not be the last time we will be coming once in a while we will be coming to support in our own way.”

“We are so happy and we really appreciate this Iftar that you brought and we pray that the Almighty Allah will accept it and we hope to see you more often. Thank you so much on behalf of the management we really appreciated,” Fatoumatta Jallow, in charge of the medical lab at the Kanifing General Hospital said.
