The National Assembly Public Enterprises Committee has given an extension dates to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) to submit its financial statement and activity report of the year ending 31st December 2017 and 2018 not later than 25th March, 2021 and those of 2019 and 2020 should be submitted not later than 30th April, 2021 to the National Audit Office respectively.

Speaking during the sitting last week, Honorable Halifa Sallah chairperson of public enterprises committee hammered it to hearing of everyone that 2021 is the end of the system itself there is need to avoid backlog continuous permits.

Trying to provide remedy to report delaying from public offices, he said 31st March 2021 is the deadline for putting backlog behind and “most of the institutions appeared so far are trying to adjust.”

He advised the National Audit Office to address the issue of report delay by working towards assisting the committee to put backlog behind.

Mr Sidat Hydara of National Audit Office explained that though DLEAG report will be submitted to National Audit Office at end of April that will be welcoming but at National Audit Office “we have an operational system in which there is timeline to audit them (institutions).”

But he quickly informed the committee that as far as this issue is concern they will see how best they can adjust and prioritize them.
