GRA Board of Directors embark on field Visit to GRA offices in GBA

The Board of Directors and the Management of Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Wednesday, 10th February, 2021, embarked on a field visit to GRA offices within the Greater Banjul Area (GBA).

The Purpose of the tour was to visit GRA branches to have first-hand information regarding the working conditions of their staff.

The visit was also meant to say thank you to the GRA staff for their hard work, commitment and professionalism in ensuring that GRA achieved it set Target in 2020. And the visit is also part of their mission to interact with the GRA staff especially on their constraints and how best to address them.

Addressing the GRA staff in various meeting held those branches the Commissioner General of GRA Mr.Yankuba Darboe expressed total appreciation to the board and the management team and said the meeting was meant to serve as motivation and encouragement for them to do more hard work.

CG Darboe harped on the significance achievement that the GRA registered in 2020 despite the Deadly coronavirus, as GRA was able to exceed its revenue Target.

He affirmed that to collect amount is not a child play, but was achievable due to team work, dedication and professionalism.

He used the meeting to dilate on the need for team spirit, punctuality, code of dress, approach attitude toward office work and professionalism in the collection of tax.

The Commissioner General therefore disclosed that the government had tasked GRA to collect D12.8 Billion in and emphasised that it needs serious minded people to do this work.

Thus, he said, this requires collective and team work to achieve it. But quickly reminded them of the need for GRA staff to maintain the good image of the Authority and praised them for the cordial relationship that they are known for in the past.

On her part the GRA Board Chair Lucy Faye Jagne commended the GRA staff for the unprecedented performance that GRA registered in 2020 despite the Coronavirus pandemic.

She equally challenged the GRA staff to continue with the team spirit for the best interest of this country. She said hope is high and more are expected from GRA.

The board chairperson also commended the top management of GRA through the Commissioner General for the hard work and commitment telling them that GRA Belongs to all and urged them to keep on the good work.

Among constraints raised in the visiting branches include office space, furniture, IT, connectivity, among others.
