Man 48 absconds from coronavirus treatment centre

A 48-year-old coronavirus patient, identified as man has absconded from a treatment centre, Ministry of Health has announced.

“1 COVID-19 patient, a 48-year-old male from Bakoteh – absconded from one of the treatments centres,” the latest Covid-19 situational report stated.

According the to the report “218 new laboratory test results received from NPHL of these, 10 returned indeterminant , inconclusive 7, new COVID-19 patients recovered and got discharged within the last 48hrs. The country currently has 46 people in quarantine, 1,253 active cases and a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%.”

Further to the report “2 new COVID-19 related deaths recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 117 – a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%.  While one of the deceased cases was a known COVID-19 case who had been on oxygen support for 2 weeks, the other’s COVID-19 status was only confirmed posthumously.  Both cases were male aged 40 and 60 years old.”

It concluded that “19 new positive cases registered, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 3,613. This represents an 8.7% test positivity rate (19 out of 218 total tests performed). The median age of the new cases is 36 years (range: 20 to 75 years)”
