KMC Mayor calls for inclusive support to fight coronavirus

Mayor of Kanifing Municipality has called for inclusive support to fight coronavirus out of the country.

Talib Ahmed Bensouda made the call in a video made viral a day after he tested positive for the virus as he also explained how he took the decision to get tested for coronavirus after he felt ill.

“The few days that have passed, I felt ill. I was feeling dizzy, whatever I ate won’t give me any taste and whatever I smell wouldn’t give me any smell. I then said I would take the test but also to stop going to work. The test has returned and it turns out positive,” he said in the video.

He added: “I want to tell you Covid-19 is real. Time has come for us to come together and support the government so that this disease can be driven out of The Gambia.”

Mayor Bensouda emerged first Mayor of the country to contract the virus as at least four top government officials have tested positive for the virus -including Gambian deputy president Dr IsatouTouray and four cabinet Ministers.
