The member of Anti-Corruption Coalition – The Gambia (ACCG) has criticised and blamed the Gambia Police Force for their failure to investigate corruption allegations made against the Ministry of Health in recent time.

Michael David, said “we have a Minister that came to the National Assembly to make a serious allegation of massive corruption in his own Ministry and the IGP has the constitutional power to conduct the investigation immediately.”

“So why is the IGP sitting down doing nothing?” he asked rhetorically.

He went on that they cannot be watching the IGP arresting civil society activists for voicing out their opinions. “The IGP have not even gone to the Ministry to see the hard copy files and invite people for questioning, he has not done it why?” he asked further.

According to him, these are things that need to be advocated for as the IGP have to be hold accountable and come forward to do something about the allegation.

Michael David therefore accused the Ministry of Health to be “one of the ‘most corrupt institutions’ in the country from procurement of medication and in disbursement of Covid-19 fund.”

He later encouraged the IGP to do something about it.
