GRA, GAF Strengthens Institutional Corporations

Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) and Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has strengthened institutional corporation meant to support good  working relationship  to better nurture the peace and tranquility that the Gambia is known for in the sub-region.

On Tuesday 19 May, Gambia Armed Forces Chief of Defence Staff Yankuba Drammeh paid a courtesy call on GRA commissioner general Yankuba Darboe, at his office in Banjul

CDS Drammeh stated that the visit at the revenue collector office amid to strengthen the already existing good working relationship between the two institutions, saying that they have been enjoying a cordial working relationship with GRA which they aimed to strengthen.

Speaking at GAF Defence headquarter on Wednesday, visiting Commissioner General of GRA Mr. Darboe highlighted the needs for complimenting institution role in service deliver  and also  the need to respect for seniority in any institution.

He stressed that lacked of recognition will make it difficult for any headway in various institution.

Commissioner General  Darboe  urged for the significance of  teamwork ,dedication and commitment for all institutions, described  his this visit to military headquarter  as  means  of  strengthening  the already existing relationship between the Gambia Army Force and  his  office Gambia Revenue Authority GRA.

Mr. Darboe also expressed delighted  with the level of the reception accorded to him and his team from the Gambia Revenue Authority and the board chairperson .He also thanked the GAF  through the CDS Drammeh  for briefing him and his delegation about the role and function of the GAF.

“I was really touched, after listening throughout the presentation done by Major Mboob on the organizational structure and role of GAF,” he said.

He also firmed that during the presentation done by GAF Major Mboob a lot of knowledge was gained by his team members from the Gambia Revenue Authority.

He further urged that it is good   to organize such forum because it will encourage better working relationship among sister institutions.

“Organizing such an interactive forum will greatly help to have an in-depth knowledge of what is happening in our institutions. Today, it was a lecture and we have learned a lot about the GAF.

We know a lot, which we don’t know before. I think this is one of the reason why we want to encourage this kind of collaboration with our sister security institutions,” Mr. Darboe stated.

He pointed out that it is good to know each other role and responsibility, in the excursion of it duties and this kind of visit is one way of addressing and complimenting each other services.

Enlightening the soldiers on GRA roles and function, Commissioner General Darboe pointed out that the work of GRA is collecting revenue for national development.

According to him, there is need for peace to prevail without which there will be no collection of revenue in this country.

He described institution collaborating and supporting each other as efforts of important in development goal, pointing   that it is appropriate to support each other to make sure that there is upkeep of peace and stability in the country.

Commissioner General Darboe further described peace as primary key to development aspiration in any nation, saying that  GAF taking the right direction  and on the forefront of making this to become a reality in The Gambia.

“We want to collaborate with GAF to make sure that whatever, you request when it comes to common interest, we will be there for you. You cannot have any organise society or institution without respect for leadership, command and hierarchy,” Commissioner General Darboe stated.

He added: “Continue maintaining high sense of commitment and discipline that can earn you a better future, and professionalism.

We are proud of the GAF, and we know that you are here for us. We will continue to recognize your effort and the services that you are rendering toward national development.”

For his part, CDS Major General Yankuba Drammeh, stated that GAF consider it appropriate to work close in collaboration with sister security institutions.

“No institution or individual can make any meaningful development without the other and the need for approving other efforts national development is the way forward. Therefore, collaborating with GRA to further reinforce our relationship is a step in the right direction,” he said.

CDS Drammeh pointed out that GAF value the already bilateral relationship between the two institutions, revealing that GAF will reach out to GRA and other sister security institutions to better consolidate o effort and see how to explore on other possible means of taking The Gambia’s to the next level.

Other speakers include Deputy CDS and GRA Board chairperson and intervention, comment was also made by GRA officials all gear toward working hand in glove for the interest of this country.
