Police clampdown on tailoring shops in Latrikunda market

Police have launched a morning clampdown on tailoring shops in Latrikunda market and this has caused pandemonium within the market last Friday.

According to the tailors who were in their various shops on Friday morning opened shops and started their daily routine to sew their customers koriteh’s clothes while all of a sudden some policemen emerged to force tailoring shops to close.

Meanwhile, to ease the burden on people and business community an amendment to the regulation allows non-essential workers or services to open or work from 2pm to 6pm all measures adopted to help curb spread of the coronavirus.

This time frame is however criticised by many as they said it doesn’t favour them.
And tailor in Latrikunda market challenged the decision as they complained of having people clothes to sew as Koriteh approaches.

The National Assembly is currently sitting to discuss if there is need to extend the previous 45 days with another 45 days, a new move as an extension to the ongoing State of Public Emergency presented on Saturday to the NAM in the ongoing extraordinary session by the Minister of Justice.

However, a group of tailors could be heard saying “we are tired because we have people’s clothes to sew and police are now arresting us.”
