Citizen’s Alliance Registered as a Bona fide Political Party

It was re-echoed that the Citizen’s Alliance is been registered as the Tenth Political Party in the country on Friday, 29th day of November 2019, at the Election House (IEC).

The Independent Electoral Commission has notified the general public that having met the requirement for registration under Section 105 of the Election Act 2009.

IEC further notifying the public that he particulars of the duly registered party are; Party Chairperson and Leader is Mr Dominic Mendy, Party Secretariat is D107 Kanifing Housing Estate, Party Acronym is CA, party Colour Dark Blue and White Stripes, party Symbol is Baobab Tree and while the party Motto is Patriotism, Integrity, and Development.

However, Mrs Isatou Jallow Ndure, Commission member said it is important to encourage the party supporters about the campaign code of ethics which is part of the Electoral Laws, that seeks to ensure the maintenance of peaceful political conduct by all political parties.

“Political parties are also required under the existing Electoral Laws to submit to IEC their Annual Audited Accounts”, she added.

She reminded political parties that, it is their responsibility to educate and sensitize their supporters on the Code on Election Campaign Ethic Orders.

She quickly pointed out that, the law does not allow any political party or individual to engage in any act that may lead to violence or deprive others of their constitutional rights and freedom.

Party Chairperson and Leader, Mr. Dominic Mendy, said The Gambia is still a highly dependent and underdeveloped country with weak institutions.

“The unfortunate state of affairs is the result of lack of an effective and visionary leadership that will initiate needed reforms,” he said.

He went on that “as a nation we achieved so much together in 2016, but yet we remain socially, ethnically and politically divided.”

According to him, the Citizen’s Alliance party is about setting aside our differences as a country and taking up our similarities to build a stronger country for all Gambians.

In addition he said Citizen’s Alliance is a political party founded to respond to the county’s desperate need for new and effective political leadership that will focus on uniting our country.
