3 Female Immigration officers allegedly quarantine in in Warehouse

Five Gambians including three female immigration officers are allegedly keep in a warehouse in Banjul, as they are quarantined for the second time since their returned from a training mission in Dubai last March.

They are said to have been kept at Wenchor Banjul.

Currently, the three officers under quarantine are complaining that since they were kept in the warehouse there is no single medical officer that visit or attend to them.

The three female officers were among a group of Gambian security forces sent on a training mission to Dubai.The team was kept in quarantine upon arrival last March for 14 days and got released on 3rd April, but they were recalled and quarantine for the second time since 11th April.

An anonymous source told The Voice: “upon arrival at the airport on 20th March, 2020 they were quarantined for 14 days and released to go home on 3rd April 2020. But Saturday, 11th April 2020 they were picked by Captain Corr and a medical health head by the surname Bahoum.”

He added that they were not taken to the hospital but presently quarantined at Wenchor in Banjul Highway, though none of them complain of any symptom as regarding COVID-19.

When contacted for comment, The Director of Health Promotion Modou Njai, said he is not aware of this issue. He however promised to find out and get back to the press.

Also the immigration spokesman, Mamading S Dibba, said he is not aware of the issue.
