Gambian-Spanish philanthropist provides solar streets light to Kekuta Kunda

A Gambian philanthropist Based in Spain Saikou Jammeh and a citizen of Kekuteh Kunda and his Spanish partners has provided 21 solar lighting streets light to the community of Kekuta Kunda and 4 streets light for Njie Kunda in Upper Badibou district in the north bank region.

Saikou Jammeh was speaking to Voice newspaper in Kekuteh Kunda recently during the inauguration of streets light project, aimed at lighting the entire communities to boost security and safety of the inhabitants.

He said in the past the project has supported the provision of solar bulbs each household to help families have light and do away with the use of candles to save lives and livelihood.

He said the partnership with Spanish has also borehole water Facility worth over D1million and whilst funded women vegetable garden and construct laundry lounge to help reduce time and pressure on women.

The philanthropist has part of their commitment to health sector, citing donation of incubator and other materials and equipment to Farafenni General Hospital and 200 bed sheets to different health facilities including boost service delivery.

Cristina Soler and Clara Bertran of AMB Les Teves Spanish NGO and health specialist expressed delight on the giant strife taken Ministry of Health in improving immunization of under-five and noted strengthen Primary Health Care is fundamental in improving health and wellbeing of children.

The duos noted that support to health sector is crucial and therefore the equipment donated were provided by Palamos Hospital and whilst the specialist are from the hospital clinic of BARCELONA and the equipment by CATALONA health Facility for Farafenni General Hospital and Illiasa .

They disclosed that plan is in the offing to have specialist from Spain who will be working with health staff in Illiasa in providing treatment to patience.
Binta Sanyang the wife of Saikou Jammeh said the support to her husband aim to give back to the community in changing lives and livelihood.
The supports to the community aims at strengthen health and well being of the community.
