The Public relation officer of Brikama Area Council (BAC) has stated that no single tax collector of the council will lose his or her job despite introduction of digital tax collection format.

Lamin Singhateh made the revelation in an interview with The Voice over the week following scared rumors that some staff revenue collectors of the council might be at risk of losing their jobs amid recent introduction of digital tax collection system.

He stated that the introduction of digital tax collection system by the council was not designed to create redundancies of job employments among tax collectors while adding that the fear of creating job unemployment amid new tax collection system was initially examined by the council which he said had came up with the guarantee that no tax collector will lose his or her job.

“This was initially thought by the council that whether the introduction of new digital tax collection system might create risk of job redundancy among rate and tax collectors but I can tell you that no single employee will lose his or her job. The only mechanism is to train and equipped them on the new format of tax collection system.”He said

He added that the only significance of introducing the new digital tax collection system is mainly to maximize council’s fund and as well reduce the great risk of financial linkages during and after collection of rates and taxes.

“The only importance of introducing digital tax collection by the council was mainly to end the risk of financial leakages during and after collection of rates and taxes.” He said

Citing on current progress of the council he said 8 garbage trucks including 500 trash bins have already being ordered by the council for waste management which he stated will soon be distributed across the region.

“We will soon start the distribution of new garbage trucks and trash bins to communities as soon we finish working on their road documentations”, he said,
