IGP, Interior, Information Ministers others Back 3yrs Jotna

A senior member of Operation 3Years Jotna has revealed that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mamud Jobe, Minister of Interior Yankuba Sonko, Minister of Information, Ebrima Sillah among others assisted   that movement application process that was approved to hold a peaceful protest on 16th December, 2019.

Karamo Jadama, speaking in a leaked audio disclosed that his movement has agreed to hold a peaceful protest from Sting Corner to Denton Bridge after considering all security threats that criminals and unwanted elements may capitalize on the situation.

The Movement is calling on Gambian President Adama Barrow to honor his 2016, campaign promises that once elected he will rule for country for three years, organize free and fair election and handover power.

“We held a very tough meeting with the Security Council and now we have succeeded, initially they didn’t want to give us the permit because they opt for a dialogue between (Three Years Jotna) and President Adama Barrow. They told us dialogue is the best mechanism to solve this issue so that anything we need it can be address but we declined to give in to the dialogue proposal,” said Dembo Jadama in the leaked audio.

He added: “They thought that they will be able to buy us but finally Inspector General of Police, Interior minister Support us a lot. Even though Ebrima Sillah, minister of Information did not come out directly to show his support to us but was very helpful to us and this show of support give us the conviction that all these people are fed-up with the system.”

Jadama revealed that their meeting with the Security Council was attended by five ministers, SIS director, the IGP and all the cabinet, disclosing that the aim of the secure council was to buy them out as well as to submit Three Years Jotna members to a purported dialogue meeting with the President Adama Barrow.

“When they spoke about dialoguing with President Barrow, we told them that is not the issue that brought us there, we told them our mission is about the permit not the dialogue. We told them that the reason we applied for the permit is to affirm our position that we are going to stage a peaceful protest contrary to the misconceptions,” Jammeh explained their encounter with the Security Council.

He said the decision to hold the protest from Sting Corner to Denton Bridge was reached after intense scrutiny of the security threats that have been marked out by the police, adding that the agreements have also been reached for President Adama Barrow to personally receive the movement’s petition paper on behalf of government.

measures that is now before the court,” he clarified.
