Human Resources Assessments, Public Perception Study and Gender Survey Reports Launched

Reports on Human Resources Assessments, Public Perception Study and Gender Survey, which aimed at empowering policy makers in their decision-making process was launched on Thursday at a local hotel.

Since the change of regime in 2016 which ended the 22 years of brutal dictatorship in the country and the ushering of new democracy and rule of law, the European Union continued to support the government of The Gambia in it transition period especially in the areas of security sector reform and budget support.

Anne Bennett, head of DCAF Sub-Saharan Africa Division commended the launching as the most “anticipated process” for security sector reform p, which she said will enhanced decision makers in the implementation of policies as far as democracy and rule of law are sacrosanct in national development.

She thanked the partners for the successful launching of the report, however challenged the stakeholders to effectively utilized and implement the report, which she is optimistic if properly implemented will help actors in the areas of gender-based issues.

Atlia Lajos, the European Union ambassador to The Gambia assured his office readiness and commitment in supporting the government in its development aspiration, while challenged the participants to take full ownership of the reports.

He appealed for commitment for the implementation of the survey reports, saying “this is the moment of opportunity for security sector reforms for the country as part of its democratic reforms and rule of law.”

For his part, the chief national security adviser, Momodou Badgie described the launching as “the most crucial aspect in the security sector reforms” as far as gender mainstreaming is concerned.

Other speaker includes, Sana Jawara who deputized for the chairman of the security sector reform, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubacarr Tambadou who also delivered similar remarks.
