“Put the Interest of Gambia first before anything” Says Rawdatul Majaalis

Members of the Majmou Atu Rawdatul Majaalis, a non-profit making Islamic have calls on Gambians to “Put the Interest of Gambia first before anything.”

On  Saturday Rawdatul Majaalis held its first-ever National Unity Conference at Semega Janneh Memorial Hall opposite Bufer Zone in Talinidng with the theme: “Put the Interest of Gambia first Before anything”.

The conference according to the organizers was to pray for peace, stability and togetherness in the country among Gambians despite our political affiliations, geographical lcoations, ethnic backgrounds among others.

Speaking to reporters at event, the 2nd Vice President of the Majmou Atu Rawdatul Majaalis who double as the Caliph General of Brufut Hydara kunda Majlis sect, Sheriff Nano Hydara outlined the objectives iof the organization.

He said Rawdatul Majaalis was formed to re-enforced the unification of the lines of the Muslim Ummah and also to protect them aganinst divisive contraversies due to tribalism or otthers.

He said they also formed the organization to put all Majlis sects through-out the country under one umbrella, preseve the Islamically related treausres of our forefathers including their good deeds of examples in Islam.

Nurure and strengthen the relationship between the various Islamic organizations within and outisde the country based on solidarity and tolerance under umbrella of peace tranquility.

Buba Marong from Badibu Mandor village in the North Bank Region, described the conference as a real sign of co-operation and undertansding between Islamic scholars in the country.

According to Marong, Rawdatul Majaalis members will not allow any so-called Isamic scholar/s to unIslamically tamper with the Islamic religion in the country which our fortefathers work for tirelessly.

He called on Islamic scholars in the country to always preach peace and stability in the country during their Friday sermons and religious gatherings thus not to be material minded.

“The role of Islamic scholars in the country is to bring  people together for shake of Islam, because Islami is calling for peace nothing else and no Islamic scholars should serve as a mouth piece of our leaders,” Marong explained.

He urged Islamic scholars in the country to always preach peace and stability rather than preaching something based on material gain thus stressing the need for Islamic scholars not to be peace brokers but peace makers.

Speakers like Mustapha Sillah from Taiba in Casamance and Ba Kairaba Jabbie Rawdatul Majaalis representtaive in Senegal welcomed the formation of the organization while assured of their unflinching to the organization at all times.
