CILSS -Regional Meeting Wrap-up  in Banjul

A three day regional meeting for permanent interstate committee for drought control in the Sahel CILSS   in partnership with the Nema Project under the ministry of agriculture ended in Banjul. The forum brought participants from The Gambia, Mali, Niger, Chad, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Mauritania.

The participants brought together infrastructure   and Environment Experts from the right project components. Its aim was to assess the level; of implementation of investments and ESMP, update the roadmap, share experiences and drawn lesson for improving the project implementation.

The regional workshop was attended by eight countries in West Africa which are part of P2RS project.

During the opening ceremony, Musa Huma, deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture said that, the forum will share experiences and draw lessons for proper implementation of the project, the experts gather here will reflects directly on the performance of the project.

He explained that the overall objective of workshop is to take stock of infrastructures build since the start of the project and difficulties encountered in order to identify appropriate solutions. The forum will also address the project prospects and logical framework on preparation for its formulation.

According to him, a proposed strategic and recommendations on investment prospects as the project is about to close in 2020, they deem it necessary to scale up information and measures on the completion of the project.

“At the end of these three days, we expects the Environmental and social management plan ESMP implementation reviews is assessed and the result consolidate the infrastructure update is known and the result consolidate,” he said.

Huma added that the experts directly involved in the financial management expert and the value chain development experts have been attending this review workshop since 2018.
