Noo Kunda Community Commends NEMA vegetable production project

The community of Noo Kunda has commended NEMA agricultural project office for providing 4.6ha vegetable garden, borehole, 17 water reservoirs, solar system, and provision of vegetable seed, weighing scale and capacity development on production.

Modou Jadama NEMA Focal person at Noo Kunda was speaking to The Voice recently, at NEMA Sponsored vegetable garden, saying that the support provided has help gardeners to increase production and productivity.

He noted that the training provided by the project on best agricultural practices, market information system and treatment of plants has contributed to boost vegetable production, productivity and income.

Fatou Jagne, president of women vegetable growers and Kaddy Binta Dampha, started   the capacity development of women on compost making has contributed to the promotion of organic farming at the garden and also at  the  rice fields, and  has enable them to have good harvest and income.

The duo calls on farmers to collaborate with front line extension workers to learn new skills and methods on selection of soil types, planting and treatment of plant against insects.

Kebba Manneh vice chairperson of garden also commended  Njawara Agricultural Training Center and NEMA for timely supervision and training of record keeping, market information system, noting that it has help them to know market price and most importantly on the use of scale on the sale of their vegetables.
