Kerewan Kambi Jassey Kolong Association Clock one

As part of efforts to give back to society, Kerewan Kambi Jassey Kolong Youth Association on Friday held it first anniversary celebration by  organizing’s  quiz, debate and spelling competition for the participating schools of Kerewan Senior and Kerewan Basic Cycle schools.

The event was held at Kerewan Senior Secondary School in the North Bank region and was attended by students, members of the association and teachers.

The youth led association attaches great importance to partner with schools in advancing quality teaching and learning. The association was   established on 22nd February 2018.

The initiative was highly welcome by student and teachers, noting that the giving back to schools by ex-student demonstrated commitment to educational development of student in the administrative town of Kerewan.

Musa Fatty, president of the association reiterated that the significant of the day, is the participation of student in debate, spelling and quiz competition to provide an opportunity for student to showcase their talent, noting that the association attracting more youths.

Bai S Jawara, principal Kerewan Senior Secondary School,  noted that this type  of  education  programme contribute immensely in complementing government effort in the attainment of quality education.

He commended the school commitment to quality teaching and learning, citing that most of the graduate students from the school were enrolled at Gambia College, University and some are now teaching at the school.

Lamin S Jawara, Guest Speaker speaking on the theme: ‘Discipline as tool to Excel in academic education’  noted that there is need for school authorities to attach  more on discipline as it help to address internal discipline to avert external problem and by extension allow students to take up learning seriously.

Jawara, double as Education Cluster Monitor of Kerewan cluster call on students to respect school policy of creating conducive learning and teaching environment.

He hailed Kambi Jassey Kolong Youth Association for contributing to the attaining  of quality education, while  he called for  mutual understanding among stakeholders in promoting the participation of student in attaining academic center of excellence.
