SIS DG: No More Excesses

Ousman Sowe, the director general of the State Intelligent Services has vowed that there will be no more excesses at the defunct National Intelligence Agency.

“Today part of our reforms is to have the public institution in the name of the SIS that is respected, trusted ,recognized, not scary to the people and commanding the confidence of the people,” he said at a press conference held at its headquarters in Banjul.

He added: “To have an intelligence service of national character an intelligence service that everyone can look at and say yes that is state intelligent. That is devoid of tribe, nepotism to all those ill that are unhelpful for ensuring national character in things we do.”

According to him, the State Intelligence Services has taken on stride that by implication the country to another, saying “we have come with the hastag of no more excesses. That has been our guiding mantra no more excesses.”

The head of the Intelligence Service said the reform   aims to improve the Institution’s state of affairs and make it both government and public institution that serve the interest of the Gambian people.

He said their task  was to reform structure, reshape , reengineering and repositions the intelligence service which he said “worth it name in helping and meeting the national security need of this country, both home and abroad”.

He expressed delight to Gambian people for the trust they have in the State Intelligence Service, describing it a commendable gesture.

Meanwhile, Sowe assured commitment to reshaping reengineering refocusing recasting and resetting the intelligence institution under a democratic government which he said would enable it to carry out its national mandate in a manner that meets public expectation.
