Gambian Ex-militaries Launch Association

The Gambian ex-military officers both home and abroad have launched a brand-new association called Gambia Armed Forces Veteran Association.

In a press release, the association aims to unite the ex-military officers and enable them to contribute to the national development.

The press release further stated that the association will enable discipline, harmony and loyalty which are so necessary in all well governed fraternities to may be preserved, the release added.

“GAFVA have concluded from the emergent democratic socio- political environment that prohibition can no longer be slapped on any one individual or segment of the citizenry in exercise of their rights for which there is a fair and acceptable reason,” the release said.

Joseph P Jassey, the signatory of the press release said in it that:“The association was registered at the Attorney General Chambers as well as Ministry of Justice, adding Adama Barrow, President of The Gambia and Commander-in-chief of the armed forces has generously acknowledged the existence of the association through the Ministry of Defense,” said in the release.

The exercise of the general administrative, managerial direction and control of GAFVA has been vested on an executive committee composed of the following ex- military officers, he added.

The executive include Ebrima Cambi chairperson, Babucarr Jeng vice chairperson, Landing Sanneh second vice chairperson, Joseph P Jassey secretary general, Musatapha Jobe assistant secretary general, Momar SM Jobe public relation officer, Kebba S Cham treasurer or coordinator, Samba Saidy assistant coordinator, Dembo Jassey national organizing secretary, Pa Amat Liegh Assistant organizing secretary, Alhagie Saidy Auditor and Modou Colley Assistant Auditor.

GAFVA officials called all ex- service officers to register in the association at its headquartering at Kunta Kinteh Bar and Restaurant in Tranquil along AU Highway.
