The Public Enterprises Committee (PEC) of the National Assembly has expressed what it called deep sense of concern over lack of compliance by Public Enterprise and institutions with the committee’s schedules.
The National scrutinize boy made this observation on Monday as a result of none compliance by most affected enterprise and institutions schedules for consideration and approval of their reports, hence deferral of their schedules to further dates.
The Committee cited excuses given by most of them as either their Board Chairpersons or Managing Directors travelled and have not signed their reports.
Below is the text of the statement from the PEC of National Assembly;
PEC hereby reminds all PEs/Agencies that Institutions are beyond individuals and matters should not be on hold, because the Managing Director or Board Chairperson is not in office.
The Committee wishes to inform Board and Management of all Public Enterprises and Agencies that the Committee will strictly abide by the approved revised schedule and will not allow excuses for deferrals from any PEs/Agencies.
The Committee will not hesitate to assert its authority as per section 109, (b) and section 110 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia to enforce compliance.
The Committee solicits the cooperation of all PEs/Agencies to submit their pending reports and appear before the Committee on the schedule dates in order to clear the backlog, the statement concluded and signed by A.g. Chairperson PEC.
