The Regional Aid Committee (RAC) of the Central River Region has recently held its third quarterly meeting for the 2018 year, held governor’s Bantaba, Janjanbureh.
The meeting was organised by National Aid Secretariat (NAS) office in the CRR aimed to discuss mechanism to address the high HIV and AIDS prevalent in region.
Speaking to members, Ansumana MS keita deputy governor for CRR said: “social responsibility for everyone to enlighten the masses on the pandemic so as the people without the disease is prevented in order to avoid slow national development.”
He commended the regional aid committee for their commitment to ensure the region is free from the pandemic.”
According to him, most of the HIV victims are the youth, noting the young people are backbone of the country as they engage in all sectors to ensure the development of the nation.
He added: “All the HIV patients also have the fundamental right to enjoy resource as any other person in the country without any discrimination”.
“The patients are also needed to contribute in the development of the country as well because they also members of the masses,” he continued.
Hamadi Sowe, regional Aid coordinator said the meeting would help to enlighten the public on HIV and AI DS.
He said his office is committed to ensuring the disease is totally eradicated in the country.
He said: “We want to raise the public’s awareness on the disease and inform them the disease is real.”
He said youth should protect from the infection as they are the future leaders.
Mr. Sowe assured HIV patients within CRR to be cared by them through providing the necessary drugs.
Pa Musa kijera, a member of the RAC charged and appealed to the committees sensitise more communities in the region about the pandemic.
