Gambian forward Alasana Yirajang scored as SK Slovan Bratislava defeated Georgian club Iberia 1999 2-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie on Tuesday.
Yirajang netted Slovan Bratislava’s second goal to give the Slovak champions a two-goal advantage ahead of the return leg.
The young Gambian, a product of the Yaya Touré Academy, delivered a composed finish to help his side strengthen its chances of progressing to the next round of the competition.
The victory leaves Slovan Bratislava well placed before the second leg, where they will seek to complete the task and secure qualification for the next stage of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
Yirajang’s latest goal adds to the growing list of impressive performances by Gambian footballers competing in European club competitions.
