Brighton and Hove Albion have suffered an injury setback with Gambian international winger Yankuba Minteh expected to be sidelined for two to three months after sustaining a leg injury in the club’s pre-season friendly against AS Roma.
Minteh was forced off during Brighton’s 3-0 victory over Roma on Aug. 8 after picking up the injury. Subsequent reports indicate that the 22-year-old could miss a significant part of the opening months of the 2026-27 season.
The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Minteh, who had been preparing for the new campaign following an encouraging spell with Brighton.
The Gambian winger has established himself as an important attacking option for the Premier League club, with his pace, direct running and creativity providing an additional threat in the final third.
His absence is expected to increase pressure on Brighton’s remaining attacking options, particularly with fellow winger Kaoru Mitoma also working his way back from injury.
For The Gambia, Minteh’s injury is also a concern as the national team prepares for its upcoming international commitments. The winger has become an important member of the Scorpions setup, making his availability a matter of interest to the national team technical staff.
Brighton will now monitor Minteh’s recovery as the club begins preparations for the new Premier League campaign.
