Two Sierra Leonean nationals have been arraigned before the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court over allegations of conspiracy and theft involving tricycle parts.
The accused persons, Muhammed Bangura and Morga Bob Kallon, appeared before Principal Magistrate Sallah M’Bai on Thursday facing two counts of conspiracy to commit felony and general punishment for theft.
DSP S. Bittaye and Cadet S. Bah represented the Inspector General of Police, while the accused persons appeared without legal representation.
According to the charge sheet, on 14 July 2026 at Manjai in the Kanifing Municipality, the two accused conspired to commit felony.
The second count alleges that they stole a door and two side mirrors from a tricycle with registration number MC URR 6661 C, belonging to Fatoumatta Binta Kabba.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons in English, the language they chose to speak. Both men denied the allegations, and the court entered pleas of not guilty on their behalf.
The prosecution applied for an adjournment to allow it to secure its first witness. It also informed the court that it had no objection to bail, stating that the offences were bailable.
Principal Magistrate Sallah M’Bai subsequently granted the accused persons bail in the sum of D100,000. Alternatively, each accused person was required to provide two Gambian sureties who would deposit D50,000 each, alongside valid identification documents and verification numbers, before swearing an affidavit of means.
The court warned that the sureties would be held responsible should the accused persons fail to appear for future proceedings.
The matter has been adjourned until 5 August 2026 for continuation of the prosecution’s case and testimony from the first prosecution witness.
