Mayamba Football Academy have reached the final of the Essau Youth Sports Development Association Newettan League Cup after defeating Late Sulayman Jallow FC 3-0 on penalties following a goalless 90 minutes.
The semi-final produced a closely contested encounter, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to break the deadlock during regulation time.
Mayamba FA once again demonstrated their strength in penalty shootouts, with goalkeeper Sheikh Jawo emerging as the decisive figure.
Jawo saved three consecutive penalties to send Mayamba into the final and was subsequently named Man of the Match.
The young goalkeeper had previously played a key role in the team’s penalty-shootout victory over Ballast FC in the round of 16, when he saved two penalties.
The victory means Mayamba FA have won all four of their penalty shootouts in the competition, securing another appearance in the Newettan League Cup final.
