Gambian teenage winger Ansumana Samura delivered a standout performance for Sudanese giants Al Hilal S.C., scoring in their dramatic CECAFA Kagame Cup semi-final encounter against Kenya’s Gor Mahia on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old forward netted in the 45th minute to level the score at 1-1 just before halftime, restoring hope for Al Hilal after an intense opening period. Samura’s composed finish capped an impressive first-half display in which he posed a constant threat to the Kenyan defence.
Both sides continued their fierce battle after the break, creating several scoring opportunities but failing to find a winning goal during regulation time. The match proceeded into extra time, with neither team able to break the deadlock in a closely contested encounter.
The semi-final was eventually decided through a tense penalty shootout, where Gor Mahia prevailed 8-7 to book their place in the CECAFA Kagame Cup final.
Despite Al Hilal’s elimination, Samura’s performance has further enhanced his growing reputation as one of The Gambia’s promising young football talents on the continental stage.
