Leader of the People’s Right Party (PRP), Ousman Jobe Monday dragged his landlord before the Kanifing Magistrate Court over alleged failure to properly maintain the house he occupies in Kololi.
The case was heard by Magistrate B. Sowe with Jobe alleging that the house which he has occupied for about three and half years has fallen into a state of serious disrepair.
Jobe told the court that the condition of the house had deteriorated significantly, particularly during the rainy season citing partially damaged walls and leaking roof.
He said the leaks had caused considerable inconvenience and damage to his belongings.
“The condition of the house could be a threat to my life. The walls of the house are almost torn apart. When it rains, the roof leaks seriously. This has caused me a lot of damage,” he told the court.
Jobe said he had repeatedly appealed to his landlord to address the problems but that his efforts had not yielded any results.
“This is why I brought the matter to the court. Even right now, I am suffering a lot. When it rains, it’s difficult for me,” he remarked.
Magistrate Sowe adjourned the case to 28th September 2026 at 10:00 a.m. for cross-examination.
The case concerns allegations of inadequate maintenance of rented premises. The court is yet to determine the merits of the claims made by the PRP leader.
