President Faye reshuffles senior state officials, replaces DER/FJ Chief

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has approved a series of senior appointments, including the replacement of Aïssatou Mbodj as General Delegate for Rapid Entrepreneurship for Women and Youth (DER/FJ), during a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

Aïssatou Mbodj was replaced by tax expert Abdoulaye Niane as head of the Rapid Entrepreneurship for Women and Youth (DER/FJ), one of the government’s flagship institutions supporting entrepreneurship among women and young people.

The Cabinet also approved changes in key state-owned enterprises. Petroleum engineer Thierno Seydou Ly was appointed Director General of PETROSEN Holding SA, replacing Alioune Gueye, while geological engineer and mining expert Mamady Touré was named Director General of the Senegal Mining Company (SOMISEN), replacing Ngagne Demba Touré.

Among appointments made under the Presidency of the Republic, Faly Seck, a senior civil administrator, was appointed President of the High Council for Social Dialogue, while consultant Amadou Niang was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Property Management Company (SOGEPA).

Under the Prime Minister’s Office, Moustapha Mbengue, a doctor of Information and Communication Sciences, was appointed Director of the National Archives of Senegal.

The Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning saw the appointment of tax lawyer Abdourahmane Baldé as Director General of the National Lottery (LONASE), replacing Toussaint Manga, while Mamadou Gueye was appointed Administrator of the Automobile Guarantee Fund.

At the Ministry of Interior and Public Security, Guédji Diouf was appointed Governor of the Kaolack Region, replacing Mouhamadou Moctar Watt, who was reassigned, while Abdourahmane Ndiaye succeeded Diouf as Governor of the Tambacounda Region.

Other appointments included Mouhamadou Moustapha Thioune as Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Relations with Institutions and Mamadou Moustapha Diallo as Director of General Administration and Equipment at the same ministry.

Serigne Ahmadou Bamba Sy was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs.

In the Ministry of Culture, Crafts and Tourism, Abdou Simbandy Diatta was named Director General of the Museum of Black Civilizations.

The Cabinet also appointed Mamadou Diouf as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Local Development Agency (ADL).

Under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Cheikh Ahmeth Tidiane Gueye was appointed Director General of the National Company for the Marketing of Senegalese Oilseeds (SONACOS SA), Ismaila Kebe became Director General of the Agency for the Development and Support of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ADEPME), and Oumar Remy was named Director General of the Industrial Sites Promotion Agency (APROSI), replacing Mamadou Lamine Ndiaye.

In the higher education sector, Barka Cissé was appointed Director of the Regional Centre for University Social Services at Souleymane Niang University in Matam, while Baye Mayoro Diop was named Director of the Regional Centre for University Social Services at Alioune Diop University of Bambey.

Within the Ministry of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, Cheikh Tacko Diop was appointed General Delegate for Social Protection and National Solidarity, replacing Matar Sène, while Paul Joseph Ndiaye became Director General of Social Action, succeeding Boucar Diouf.

The appointments form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public administration and improve the management of strategic state institutions.
