Gambian champions Medina United are set to see forward Paul Colley join Swedish top-flight side Mjällby AIF on loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
The move has been facilitated by Gambian football agent Cherno Samba, with Colley currently awaiting his visa before travelling to Sweden to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the transfer.
Colley earned the opportunity following an impressive campaign with Medina United, playing a key role in the club’s historic success as they won their first-ever Gambia Football Federation (GFF) League One title.
The forward finished the campaign with 10 goals and three assists in all competitions, highlighting his contribution to the club’s successful season.
The move to Sweden will provide Colley with an opportunity to test himself at a higher level of competition and gain valuable experience in European football.
His transfer also marks another step in the growing movement of Gambian players to European leagues.
