The National Sports Council (NSC) has welcomed newly elected Gambia Football Federation (GFF) President Kemo Ceesay and his delegation for a courtesy visit focused on strengthening cooperation and football development in The Gambia.
The meeting was held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, where NSC Executive Director Mahmud L. Jawla congratulated Ceesay and members of his Executive Committee on their election.
Jawla commended the new GFF leadership for its stated commitment to bringing together stakeholders in the football sector and reaffirmed the NSC’s readiness to support football development.
He urged the GFF leadership to maintain close cooperation with the NSC and the government in advancing the development of football in the country.
NSC Chairman Lamin S. Jawara described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions. He said the NSC was ready to work with the GFF while stressing the need for sports development to remain focused on the interests of athletes.
Council members Beatrice Mboge and Ebrima Manneh also welcomed the GFF’s commitment to greater unity among football stakeholders and expressed their readiness to work with the new leadership.
Discussions covered preparations for The Gambia’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Somalia on 25 September 2026, stadium readiness and CAF approval, national team engagement, governance, budgeting and the GFF’s strategic operations.
The meeting forms part of efforts by the two institutions to strengthen coordination on football administration and development.
