FARABA BANTA, The Gambia, Oct. 13 (PANA) – FIFA and CAF assistant referee Nfally Jarju has donated 20 footballs to Baalor-Sarr FC, the reigning Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Second Division League and FF Cup champions, to support grassroots football in his home community of Faraba Banta.

The donation was presented on Monday at the Dimphy’s Memorial Football Complex as the club prepares for the 2026/27 GFF Second Division League season.

Jarju, a native of Faraba Banta, said the gesture was intended to give back to the community that supported his journey to becoming an international match official.

He began his involvement in football as a coach before switching to refereeing, a decision prompted partly by a shortage of referees to officiate local matches in his community.

Jarju expressed gratitude to the former Faraba Banta sports committee, led by Seyfo Jaja, for the encouragement and support he received during his early years in football.

“If people support you to reach a certain level, I think you need to give back to the community,” he said.

Explaining his motivation for supporting Baalor-Sarr FC, Jarju added: “Whatever Allah gives me, no matter how small it is, I deem it necessary to share with you.”

The donation forms part of his wider commitment to youth football development in Faraba Banta. He also sponsors the Nfally Jarju Junior Tournament, which provides young players with opportunities to develop their skills and gain competitive experience.

Baalor-Sarr FC welcomed the donation as the club prepares for the new season and seeks to maintain its position in Gambian football.

Jarju’s contribution highlights the role of community support in grassroots football, particularly in helping local clubs obtain equipment and provide opportunities for young players.
