National Assembly Member (NAM) for Lower Fulladu, Gibbi Mballow has warned opposition parties against challenging the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) in the constituency ahead of the 2026 presidential election, predicting a decisive victory for President Adama Barrow.
Speaking exclusively to The Voice at his native village of Kerewan Samba Sirrah, Mballow said the NPP was confident of securing a massive victory in Fulladu, which he attributed to development projects implemented under President Barrow’s administration.
“I am warning the opposition not to measure their strength against President Adama Barrow in Fulladu. We have registered unprecedented development in the area of road networks, electricity, access to clean drinking water and other infrastructure,” he said.
Mballow said his constituency had benefited from numerous development projects under the Barrow administration, describing Fulladu as a difficult area for opposition parties to defeat the NPP.
He said he could not speak for other constituencies but was confident that the NPP would reclaim its position in Fulladu with a significant majority.
The lawmaker also stressed the importance of maintaining unity within the constituency, saying one of the key commitments he had made to his constituents was to promote unity regardless of political differences.
“Election comes and goes,” he said, urging residents to conduct themselves peacefully irrespective of their political affiliations.
Mballow acknowledged that differences in political views and approaches to governance were normal in a democratic society.
However, he reminded residents that The Gambia belonged to all citizens and urged his constituents to maintain peace and tolerance throughout the electoral process.
He called on the people of Lower Fulladu to respect one another and avoid actions that could undermine peace and stability before, during and after the elections.
