A woman, Amie Kabbah, has dragged her son, Muhammed Kabbah, before the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court over the alleged theft of household items valued at D55,000.
The case was heard before Magistrate Binta Sowe, with Muhammed Kabbah charged with stealing from a dwelling house, contrary to Section 230(a) of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
According to the particulars of the offence, Muhammed Kabbah, on or about September 21, 2026, in Serekunda, Kanifing Municipality, allegedly stole several items from the dwelling house of his mother, Amie Kabbah.
The items allegedly stolen include one television valued at D15,000 and a set of sofa seats valued at D40,000, bringing the total value of the alleged stolen property to D55,000.
The prosecution alleged that the items were the property of Amie Kabbah and that, by taking them, the accused committed the offence of stealing.
When the charge was read and interpreted to Muhammed Kabbah in a language he understood, he pleaded not guilty.
Following his plea, Magistrate Binta Sowe adjourned the matter for consideration of his bail conditions and ordered that the accused be remanded at Mile II Central Prison pending the next hearing.
The case was adjourned for continuation.
