Mayamba FA opened their Esaau Youth Sports Development Association Newettan campaign with an impressive 3-1 comeback victory over Buniadu FC in a North Bank derby.

Buniadu FC made a bright start to the encounter, with Chiyam Sow opening the scoring in the 10th minute to give his side an early advantage.

Mayamba FA responded positively and gradually took control of the match. Their efforts were rewarded in the 40th minute when Kemo Kinteh converted a penalty after a Buniadu FC defender handled the ball inside the box.

The two sides went into the half-time break level at 1-1.

Mayamba FA returned strongly after the interval and completed their comeback in the 54th minute. Chabba Sow’s free-kick was initially parried by the Buniadu goalkeeper, but Malang Marong reacted quickly to score from the rebound and put Mayamba FA 2-1 ahead.

The academy side continued to press for another goal, and coach Muhammad Camara introduced teenager Alasana Faye in the 78th minute for his senior debut.

Faye made an immediate impact, scoring virtually with his first touch to extend Mayamba FA’s lead to 3-1.

The result gave Mayamba FA a winning start to the competition and underlined their ambitions in the Esaau and BEM Zone Newettan.
