Mbanjuku Keita on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on two separate charges contained in different charge sheets.
In the first case, Keita was charged with cattle stealing, contrary to Section 229 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
According to the particulars of the charge, Keita allegedly stole and slaughtered a she-goat sometime in August 2026 at Brikama Sanchaba, West Coast Region, for the purpose of selling it.
The animal, valued at D8,000, was allegedly the property of Demba Bah.
The charge was read and explained to Keita, who pleaded not guilty.
Cadet Inspector A. Sanneh, representing the Inspector General of Police, applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its witnesses. He did not object to bail.
Magistrate Sambou granted the application and adjourned the case to Oct. 22, 2026.
Keita was granted bail in the sum of D10,000 with one Gambian surety. The surety is required to deposit a valid Gambian National Identity Card or passport with the court Registrar and depose to means.
In a separate case before the same court, Keita faced another charge of stealing, contrary to Section 226 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
The second charge alleges that sometime in October 2025 at Brikama New Town, Keita stole a motorbike, registration number KM 4096, valued at D41,000 and allegedly belonging to Alieu Joof.
Keita pleaded not guilty after the charge was read and explained to him.
Cpl. 6396 A. Bah, representing the Inspector General of Police, applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its first prosecution witness, PW1. He also did not object to bail.
The court adjourned the matter to Oct. 22, 2026, for the hearing of PW1.
Keita was granted bail in the sum of D50,000 with one Gambian surety. The surety is required to deposit a valid Gambian National Identity Card or passport with the Registrar of the Court and depose to means.
