Gambian forward Lamin Jawneh scored as New York Cosmos defeated Corpus Christi FC 2-0 in Wednesday’s USL League One match in the United States.
Jawneh opened the scoring in the 25th minute, netting his first league goal of the 2026 USL League One season to give the Cosmos an early advantage.
The goal marked an important milestone for the Gambian forward, who joined New York Cosmos in May 2026 after previously playing for Texoma FC.
Since his move, Jawneh has been working to establish himself in the Cosmos squad and strengthen his presence in American professional football.
His goal provided New York Cosmos with a solid platform as they maintained control of the match before adding a second goal to secure all three points.
The performance is expected to boost Jawneh’s confidence as he seeks to build on his breakthrough goal and contribute further to the Cosmos’ campaign.
