Kemo Ceesay has been elected President of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), securing a majority of votes at the federation’s Elective Congress on Sunday.
Ceesay polled 41 votes to win the closely contested election involving three candidates. Musa Jammeh finished second with 24 votes, while Sadibou Kamaso received 12 votes.
Ceesay’s election marks a new leadership chapter for Gambian football, with his administration expected to focus on unity, transparency, accountability and institutional reforms.
He is also expected to prioritise sustainable football development and address the interests of clubs, players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders.
The election followed a competitive campaign in which the candidates presented their respective visions for the future of football in The Gambia.
Following the outcome, the Kemo Ceesay campaign team described the victory as a historic milestone and congratulated the newly elected GFF president.
Ceesay now faces the task of translating his campaign commitments into concrete reforms aimed at strengthening the federation and advancing football development in the country.
