Gambian sprinter Nyimasata Jawneh finished third in her heat of the women’s 100 metres opening round at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, keeping her hopes of progressing in the competition alive.
Jawneh clocked 11.68 seconds to place third in Heat Five of the first round against a strong field of competitors.
She recorded a reaction time of 0.181 seconds, with the race run under a +2.1 metres-per-second tailwind.
The performance marked a positive start to Jawneh’s campaign at the Commonwealth Games as she represented The Gambia on the international stage.
Her result keeps her in contention as she seeks to advance further in the women’s 100 metres competition.
