The Gambia Startup Chamber of Commerce (GSCC) has officially launched its website representing an important milestone in the institution’s efforts to boost digital presence and improve access to information.
Speaking at the launching ceremony held at its headquarters in Kanifing, GSCC Chief Executive Officer, Baboucarr Kebbeh underscored the importance of the launching describing it as right step in the right direction.
Mr. Kebbeh highlighted the commitment and dedication of the staff in making the journey a success.
“Over the past three years. We started with facebook only. As time went on we deemed it necessary to introduce a website that would boost the working system. This website will allow members to directly interact with partners who want to partner with us. This is a historic moment for the institution,” he stated.
He said that the institution was established to help youths who were willing to make change in their lives and the country at large.
“We commended the National Youth Council, NEDI and other institutions who work with us tirelessly to make this journey memorable. The institution has signed a project with the Ministry of Trade through the World Bank meant to train startups to go on digital. The training will focus on e- commerce,” he disclosed.
The Founder of N-Web Plus, Mr. Momodou Njie described websites as important tools to boost an institution.
He said N- Web Plus has been in existence since 2007 and they work with National and International companies to go digital. “The importance of websites cannot be overemphasized. We consider the financial conditions of institutions. We are flexible when it comes to budgetary issues. This is practical digital platform that will sell the activities of the institution.”
Mr. Njie explained that N-Web Plus was a unique company that transformed the website of institutions adding that the launching of the website can trigger the interest of partners to fund its activities. “Anything can happen along the line through determination and commitment,” he noted.
The representative of National Youth Council Ismaila Badjie commended the institution for coming up with such an initiative meant to go digital. He said the launching should not be described as a mere launching but a platform that can change the livelihoods and generate income. Mr. Badjie commended the institution’s work reaffirming the youth council’s support in maintaining the status quo.
